Chicago, Part 2
Written by Jay on June 19, 2005 – 9:41 pmI am so far behind on this side of my life, that I feel it has almost slipped away. But, I want to get a little bit out there, just for posterity. First, I had an excellent Father’s day. The baseball powers scheduled one of our makeup games for today at noon. The head coach of our team said we would rather forfiet than play at noon on father’s day, so we did. So, we went to Elitch’s (Six Flags) and hung out all day. The water park was fun but crowded, so after lunch we rode some roller coasters, and the lines were not too bad. Tonight we had dinner with the inlaws, and now the weekend is officially over, and it seems like it just started.
Chicago was fantastic. What a great place to be. I still have some reservations about the hotel, but they did not overshadow the overall great time we had touring Chicago on foot.
Of course, we rode the train everywhere. We did not get to go to Second City, because you have to get tickets weeks in advance. But, we did go in to the building, so at least Ive been there, and the rest I can fill in.
The highlight for me, aside from the sheer coolness of the city itself, was the Art Museum. I’ll include some pictures below.
Tomorrow is a gigantic day for me at work, and I shall hopefully have some great news about that soon.
For now, I must get to bed. I’ll leave you with some pics. As a quick update, the podcasting is coming together. Hopefully I’ll have something this week to share with you.
Have a great week.

The view from our hotel, overlooking the Chicago River
We went to the Rookery on Saturday, but it was closed. However, the guard let a tour group into the lobby just as we got there, so we tagged along.

In 1904, Frank Lloyd Wright refinished the lobby. But, he left some of Root’s work exposed. Specifically, an ornate wooden column, and a part of the mosaic floor. Both are pictured

Went to the Sears Tower

Big sign for a big building. Couldnt get the whole thing in one picture.
Remember that scene in Ferris Bueller where Cameron stares at the painting?

And, of course, the most imitated image ever

It was great, as you can see.
