I’m a professional survey taker now. I’m not really sure how it happened, but I signed up at e-Rewards, and now they send me emails, I follow the link, answer some e-questions, and I get e-paid. E-paid means that instead of money, I earn e-dollars that are good for discounts on travel and jewelry and other stuff I don’t need. I guess the reward was less of a factor in my mind – I just really like answering questions. Thus far I’ve completed three surveys, two of which ended abruptly when I said I was not a major decision maker in office equipment purchases nor did I know, even roughly, how much my company spent annually on IT. But, this morning I did a survey on automobile purchases that went pretty well. I told them I was thinking about buying a car in the next two years because, while my wife will no doubt laugh at this, I really am thinking about it. Luckily, thinking about it does not equate to actually doing it – as evidenced by my multitude of unwritten novels, all the not-so-refinished kitchen chairs and the extremely long grass in the back yard.

They wanted to know if I was considering a compact sedan or compact sport utility or other compact type car. I said no. Not that I’m thinking of purchasing a behemoth, but I would like a nice, roomy, leather-clad vehicle. I think the main criteria for the car I want is that it is out of reach for me, financially. I figure as long as I’m dreaming, I might as well fanaticize.

I have $.60 so far in e-dollars. Once I get to $5.00, I can trade them in for 10% off of noise-cancelling earphones. Once I reach $100, I can trade for 2000 miles on a number of airlines, or take $100 off a bag from e-bags. I suppose at the current rate, that will take me roughly a year. I’ll get bored long before then, but I’ve been thinking I need some headphones, and noise-cancelling sounds pretty good, so maybe my goal is to reach $5.00. Actually, my goal is to get picked for a music survey, because those are my favorite. You gotta have dreams.
